2008 Grand Finale—Great Evening of Fun And Entertainment
The Chevalier Theater provided a fabulous venue for nearly 800 attendees 27 contestants, local guest stars and celebrity judges at the first Medford's Rising Star Grand finale. Hank Morse of WROR was the evening's host (assisted by Anthony Raymond Massa). Special guest stars included
Domenic Camarra and the Board (Al Everton, Richard Laskey, Warren Ramirez and Hubert Hanlon), Medford's Rising Star Senior and Junior Choruses, and Amy-Jayne McCabe. Celebrity judges included WROR's Loren and Wally. The evening's proceeds were donated to the Buddy Coholon Memory Loss Center.
Winners
There were three prizes awarded in each category, and the following winners were announced at the end of the event:
Group I: 6-12 years
- 1st - Danielle Quinlan & Victoria DiPrizio – 12 – dance
- 2nd - Catherine Doyle – 12 – vocal
- 3rd - Yachelle Cornet – 11 – vocal
Group II: 13-17 years
- 1st - Christine Deasy – 17 – vocal/guitar
- 2nd - Yavanni Headen – 13 – vocal
- 3rd - Katelyn DiBenedetto – 15 – vocal
Group III: 18 years and older
- 1st - Michael Davis – vocal
- 2nd - Michael Maloney – vocal/piano
- 3rd - Don Walker – juggling

Auditions were held at Medford High School on September 27, 2008. The response was amazing, and the amount of local talent was overwhelming. We'd like to thank all who auditioned—the judges certainly had to make some tough decisions. Congratulations to the following finalists:
